Process & Capability Assessment
A practitioner's benchmark, with a fix list ranked by value.
Procurement processes usually grow by accretion, not design. Workarounds become permanent and exceptions become the rule. Our assessments benchmark your function against standards our team helped write. You get a ranked list of what to fix, what each fix is worth, and what order to do it in.
An assessment is the right place to start when:
- You're new in the seat: an objective baseline of what you inherited, in weeks instead of a year of finding out.
- The CFO is asking what procurement delivers: a clear view of performance against benchmark, and where value is leaking.
- Stakeholders work around procurement: we find the bottlenecks and fix the processes people are avoiding.
- You're about to buy technology: know what you're fixing before you choose the tool.
Our Process & Assessment Methodology
Built on the COPC procurement standards, which our founder and several of our partners co-developed with CPOs from Microsoft, Amazon, Cisco, HPE, Intuit and others.
Baseline
Interviews, process walk-throughs and a spend and data pull to establish where you stand today.
Benchmark
Score six areas against a five-level maturity model: sourcing, supplier management, procure-to-pay, contracts, data and analytics, and organization and talent.
Roadmap & Support
Sequence quick wins and longer-term work, with optional support to carry it out.
Questions about assessment? We've got you.
How long does an assessment take?
Most run 4 to 6 weeks, depending on the size of the function and the scope.
Can you assess one area instead of the whole function?
Yes. A focused assessment covers a single area, such as data and AI readiness before a technology purchase.
Who does the work?
Practitioners who've run procurement functions, not analysts working from a template.
What happens after the assessment?
You own the fix list and the roadmap. If you want help executing, we can lead the implementation or place a Fractional CxO to own it.
Want to know where your function really stands?
Tell us what's prompting the question, and a senior practitioner will follow up to scope an assessment.
